Spring reflections, new designs, and exciting projects ahead

April always feels like a fresh start in my creative world. With spring in full swing, everything seems lighter, brighter, and a bit more hopeful, even when things don’t always go as planned.

This year, I quietly celebrated a milestone birthday and used the time to check in with myself, personally and professionally. I realised just how easy it is to fall into unhealthy routines when you’re working from home: sitting for hours, skipping breaks, and forgetting to recharge. So I made some small but meaningful changes, like daily walks, more balanced meals (which is easier here in the Mediterranean), and working when I feel most energised. It’s amazing how much difference these simple habits can make.

Every April, I also like to give my creative studio a little visual refresh, with new colour palettes, updated designs, and a burst of energy to reflect the new season. This year, I added some bold and sunny tones like bright yellow and created fresh illustrations inspired by spring, Easter, and the ups and downs of freelance life. You can explore them all in this post.

Of course, the behind-the-scenes of creative freelancing isn’t always as pretty as the final artwork. Like many small business owners, I dealt with last-minute project cancellations, ghosting clients, and financial stress that had me questioning everything. But after a grounding call with my sister (who runs a garden centre), I was reminded that it’s not just me. Many people are feeling the pinch right now. The world is shifting, and we’re all adapting as best we can.

The good news? Things turned around toward the end of the month. I’m feeling inspired again, my project list is full for May, and I’ve got exciting work coming up, including designing phone cases for an American brand and a long-awaited trip back to Hungary to visit family.

That said, I still have availability for new projects in June. If you’re looking for an illustrator or designer who can bring bold, joyful visuals to your business, someone professional, reliable, and easy to work with, I’d love to hear from you.
You can reach me directly at opencreativeworld@gmail.com.

Thanks, as always, for following along with my creative journey. Wishing you a beautiful and inspiring start to May!
