It’s hard to believe summer is almost over! August has been a unique experience for me – my first full summer spent in Italy, specifically the beautiful island of Sicily, since moving from the cold, rainy streets of London last November. And while I thought I’d spend more time at the beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying the sea, the reality was quite different!

I barely went swimming (crazy, I know!), but I did manage some peaceful sunset walks along the beach. The truth is, between the scorching heat, needing to save money, and all my friends being busy, I found myself staying in the comfort of my air-conditioned home most days. But honestly, I didn’t mind! I spent most of my time creating illustrations and working on client projects, and the slower pace allowed me to really soak in the Sicilian summer in my own way. Even though I wasn’t lounging on the beach every day, I found so much inspiration from this vibrant lifestyle, and I’m excited to share some of the illustrations I created this summer below.

One of the biggest changes I’ve made recently is to stop seeing myself as a “starving artist.” I want to make a living doing what I love! So, I’ve started selling my illustrations and photos through on-demand print shops. If you enjoy my work and would like to support me, you can check out my shop and grab some prints for your space. Every purchase means the world to me as I continue this creative journey.

As August winds down, it’s time to look ahead to the new season. September is right around the corner, and I’m feeling a mix of excitement and nerves about everything I have planned! I’ve set some big goals for myself, and I’m hoping I have enough energy to accomplish them all. While photography will always hold a special place in my heart, I’ve decided it’s time to dedicate more attention to another passion that has quietly grown over the past few years – digital vector illustrations.

This journey into illustration began during the lockdown when I couldn’t get outside to take photos. In search of a creative outlet, I bought an iPad, learned how to use Illustrator, and started designing. What started as a simple way to channel my creativity has turned into something much bigger. I’ve created hundreds of designs since then, refining my style with practice, patience, and persistence. Over time, what began as a passion has also grown into an income source and a deeper creative outlet.

The only thing I haven’t done is give this passion the full attention it deserves. But that’s about to change! As the new season begins, I’m making a conscious effort to focus more on illustration and grow as an artist. My goal is to carve out a name for myself in the field of digital illustration and share this journey with all of you. (Let’s just hope AI doesn’t completely take over the creative world before I get there, right?)
So, exciting things are ahead, and I’m eager to bring you along on this journey. Stay tuned for more updates, more illustrations, and more creativity as we move into this new season together!
Thank you all for your support, and I can’t wait to show you what’s next!
